Gaia Fair connects the community with organic, fresh and healthy products such as vegetables, peanuts and even asparagus
While waiting for the bus to return to Lima Duarte after work, employee Rosimere Ribeiro takes advantage of the market to pick up fresh vegetables. "It's great to be able to buy better quality, pesticide-free vegetables. It's also an opportunity for us to pay in cash," she says. The Gaia Fair, which takes place at Galpão Ibiti, offers organic, fresh and seasonal products, harvested directly from the production areas of the region. Gaia Ecological Products. And when there's no fair in person, orders are placed via Gaia's WhatsApp group! Only those who don't want to can do without vegetables!

Agronomist Gabriel Barbosa Pereira launched the trend when he took over the leadership of Gaia Produtos Ecológicos during the maternity leave of his wife, Janice Ventorim, also an agronomist. Known affectionately as "Janice's Gabriel", he moves the village around with the fair when he can find time between his duties, which involve another enterprise in Ibiti, Fruit Way.
"It's a way of bringing health to our employees, with quality products and the opportunity for them to learn about the importance of planting and consuming pesticide-free food. In addition, we use sustainable practices that reflect Ibiti's values," explains Gabriel.
Organic products at Ibiti Coin prices
Depending on the season, there are carrots, cabbage, radishes, turnips, asparagus, tomatoes, sunflowers, peanuts and much more. "Everything is sold at the price of Ibiti Coin, so that people can get used to a possible currency in the project," he jokes.
Although Ibiti Coin has not yet been implemented, the currency is an innovative idea with the potential to build a regenerative and circular economy. It connects the community and encourages local consumption, promoting the exchange of products and services within Ibiti itself. "Who knows, maybe it will catch on?" suggests Gabriel. For now, the concept has already been symbolically tested at the fair: 1 Ibiti Coin is equivalent to R$ 2, and with it you can buy, for example, a fresh stalk of lettuce.

And why adopt local organic products? Here are five reasons:
1. healthier and pesticide-free
Organic products are free of pesticides and chemical fertilizers and preserve nutrients and protect the health of those who consume them.
2. Superior taste
Local and fresh produce has a more intense flavor, picked at the right time to go straight to your table.
3. Sustainability and a smaller carbon footprint
Consuming locally reduces carbon emissions associated with transportation and promotes regenerative agricultural practices.
4. Strengthening the local economy
Buying direct from the producer strengthens the community's economy and encourages sustainable development in the region.
5. Connection with the origin of the food
Buying local products promotes a closer relationship with those who produce and with the land, as Rosimere said: "Knowing where it comes from makes all the difference".
